Beaches Resorts is once again raising the bar in the all-inclusive category, offering guests the chance to explore the stars with the launch of the region’s first resort-based portable planetarium experience. The Discovery Dome is a transportable air-conditioned dome theater that surrounds guest with a panoramic interactive solar experience.

The Discovery Dome experience titled One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure was recently launched at Beaches Negril Resort & Spa and Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa, as part of the Caribbean Adventures with Sesame Street program. One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure was created as part of a global partnership between Beaches Resorts, Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, the Beijing Planetarium and the Liberty Science Center.

You don't need a spaceship to learn about the sun, moon, and stars – just a little imagination! Take a trip to Outer Space with your favorite friends from "Sesame Street," including Big Bird, Elmo and their friend from China, Hu Hu Zhu and learn some amazing things along the way. As guests step into the Discovery Dome, they will be surrounded by the night sky in a state-of-the-art visual learning experience. Aimed at promoting scientific curiosity and cross-cultural appreciation this one of a kind interactive experience is sure to delight. See the Big Dipper, the North Star and learn about the sun and phases of the moon.

Complementing the launch of the Discovery Dome, guests this fall at all three Beaches Resorts will have the chance to Explore the Moon with Elmo! This signature activity will introduce children to basic astronomy concepts, the phases of the moon and its surface. Children will have the opportunity to create their own clay moon model as a takeaway of their edutainment experience.

Beaches Resorts’ guests will not be the only ones who get to experience interactive sessions in the Discover Dome.  Sandals Resorts International CEO Adam Stewart, has stated the Discovery Dome and its science-based programming will also be made available to local school children in Jamaica and Turks & Caicos through a two-country tour sponsored by the Sandals Foundation in early 2016.

“While we are thrilled to offer the first, portable, resort-based planetarium to our guests, the ability to share this experience with kids in the Caribbean who simply don’t have access to the world’s planetariums, is just awesome,” said Stewart. “We are grateful to our partners at Sesame Workshop, whose mission is to help kids grow smarter, strong and kinder, for their incredible ability to make learning so much fun and for bringing the wonders of the universe to our guests and to our kids in the Caribbean.”
