Want to see amazing forest views and the species that inhabit them?

Barceló Hotel Group has six great hotels located throughout Costa Rica where you can do ecotourism the right way.

Explore the many Natural Reserves and National Parks, such as Manuel Antonio National Park or the Cerro Chirripó, which the highest mountain in Costa Rica.

These are home to some of the most amazing creatures in the world. Look for the sloths sleeping in trees of Yos. The most common you'll find are either sloths with two fingers or with three fingers.

Per the Barceló blogger, the sloth "is almost a sacred animal in this country, and there is even a research center dedicated exclusively to this species."

Other animals around Costa Rican natural parks include green turtles, which hold their nesting season in the lagoons between March 1 through Oct. 31, and the endangered jaguars, which thankfully Costa Ricans work to rescue, rehabilitate and later release them back to their environment.

One animal you'll want to stay away from, though, is the poisonous red frog. According to a Barceló blogger, "they can be found mainly in low and very humid areas," and that they are "so poisonous that they even kill each other to mark their territory."
