Four Reasons Why Dolphin Discovery Is Home to the Most-Loved Dolphins

Four Reasons Why Dolphin Discovery Is Home to the Most-Loved Dolphins

Swimming with dolphins is on almost everyone’s bucket lists, including mine. Fortunately, I’ve been able to cross it off because I’ve swam with dolphins several times and in different dolphin habitats, including the gorgeous Isla Mujeres in Quintana Roo, Mexico; the paradisiac Riviera Maya; unique Los Cabos, incomparable Grand Cayman and stunning Punta Cana.

While many dolphin companies offer interaction programs, if you are a true dolphin lover and you want to live the experience of a lifetime, definitely swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Discovery is your one and only choice. Here are four reasons why:

    Unique Dolphin Habitats

Walking on the piers and looking at the dolphins while surrounded by a crystal-clear turquoise ocean at Isla Mujeres was a heavenly experience for me. I will never forget the sight of dolphins jumping in the water right beside the Sea Lions habitat while Manatees are chomping on lettuce. It is a moment to remember. Anguilla and Los Cabos offer a very different but also exclusive view, where I swam in the ocean surrounded by mountains, hills and vegetation. Traveling definitely gives you a different perspective of the world and Dolphin Discovery has parks in unique destinations, which allowed me to enjoy an extraordinary adventure.

    Educational and Emotional Interactions

Swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Discovery was definitely a learning experience. As dolphins swam by us and we interacted with them during the dorsal tow, foot push, kiss and hug, Eduardo the trainer, told us about their intelligence, strength, anatomy and fun facts about them. Did you know the dolphins’ pectoral fin looks very much like the bones of a human hand with all five fingers?

    Internationally Certified Locations

While walking through the dolphinariums, it is easy to see a lot of signs that show the company´s international accreditations. The staff told me all about them. The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums certified them for exceeding the international standards of animal welfare and legal origin of the dolphins and the International Marine Animal Trainers’ Association accredited them for training methods and quality. They have also been recognized by other organizations such as the International Association of Amusement Parks and Aquariums, Princess Cruise Lines and the American Society of Travel Agents.

    Exceptional Love for Dolphins

As I lived the Dolphin Discovery experience, it was evident that everyone working at the dolphinarium is absolutely in love with dolphins. From the host at check in to the salesman at the boutique, the photographer, the trainer and the waiters, they all talk so passionately about these marine mammals. They all live and breathe dolphins.

When I visited a Riviera Maya dolphinarium at Puerto Aventuras, I saw a dolphin calf and of course got curious about it, it looked so adorable! I asked a member of the staff walking by and he told me that the calf’s name was Sofia and that she was 4 months old. He started talking about how the resident veterinarians and the trainers take care of her and the new mother 24 hours a day during her first year. He also told me about an education and conservation department that could provide more information. I approached the department and they told me incredible information about a reproduction program called Miracle, which is one of the most successful in the world with almost 100 marine mammals born in human care.

Without a doubt, the only one that loves dolphins more than you and me is Dolphin Discovery.
