Jet Skiing In Manuel Antonio: A Bucket List-Worthy Adventure
With all the buzz over Manuel Antonio in Costa Rica, it's easy to wonder if a trip to the tourist hotspot is really worth it. Well, we vote yes. We were dazzled by this Costa Rican national park, so much so that we are already planning our next visit to the region.
There are countless ways to explore Manuel Antonio, but one of our favorites is easily via Jet Ski.
Jet Skiing is an ideal way to experience the beauty of Costa Rica. Getting out on the water provides a unique vantage point of the dramatic coastline, as well as the possibility for up-close encounters with spectacular wildlife. Not to mention the total adrenaline-spike from soaring across the waves that will stay with you long into the afternoon!
So without further ado, here is...
The Ultimate Guide For Jet Skiing In Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
What to Bring
A swimsuit: Your journey will likely take you to a charming little cove where you can take a quick dip in the water and go snorkeling. Plus, you never know when you might slide off your Jet Ski and into the refreshing water below.
Sunscreen: You'll be out on the water with the sun blaring down, so make sure to have protection.
Sunglasses: That strong sun will be reflecting off the water making it difficult to drive without shades.
A camera: Most water sport tours provide a dry bag for your belongings to keep them from getting wet. Even if it's just your iPhone, you'll want to snap some pictures to remember the awesome day.
No shoes needed! You'll leave your shoes in a safe box on the dock for this one.
What to Expect
Fun For The Whole Family
We like to think of Jet Skiing as the perfect adventure for those who aren't all that interested in the heart-stopping thrill of skydiving, waterfall rappelling or zip lining through the jungle. Jet Skis are pretty easy to drive once you get going and relatively risk-free if you follow directions. Bring the kids — this is a perfect option for some seriously unforgettable memories!
Professional and Knowledgeable Staff
We chose to go with Manuel Antonio Jet Ski. We were very impressed with the exceptional staff, especially as we were a bit nervous before we got started. From the onset of our tour, the staff was both friendly and professional. One of us had some trouble driving at first, and our tour guide turned around to help, offering driving tips that got us navigating the Jet Ski like a pro in minutes.
No matter what the tour you’re choosing or where it's located, it’s always important to do a little research to ensure you choose a tour with the skill, professionalism and environmental care required to ensure an awesome trip. You can’t go wrong with MA Tours.
The Opportunity To View Wildlife
Jet ski during Costa Rica’s whale migration season and you could find yourself Jet Skiing right up along a humpback whale or dolphin! Sightings are not guaranteed, but they are not uncommon, either.
Our Jet Ski adventure lasted about two hours. Manuel Antonio Jet Ski offers four different tours 7:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. We were fitted with our life jackets and had a quick safety intro before hopping onto our Jet Skis to hit the waves running! After a bit of a ride, we stopped in a beautiful bay area for a quick, refreshing swim.
We then drove over to an area known for its excellent visibility, where our guide provided us with snorkeling equipment and some crackers for the fish. We saw a host of different fish species that readily swam right up to us. After some time, we got back on our Jet Skis and were provided with freshly cut pineapple and water bottles. It was then time to get back on the water for one last ride on the way back to the dock. We finished just in time for a delicious lunch at one of the many mouthwatering restaurants in nearby Quepos.
We spent the rest of day the enjoying the beauty of the beaches while monkeys playfully dangled on the overhanging palm trees. To top it all off, we ended up taking a horseback ride along the coast just as the sun was setting for the perfect end to a remarkable day.
When To Go
The bulk of tourists go to Costa Rica between late November and April. This is when the sun is shining at its finest, and you'll rarely see a rainy day. The beauty of the season brings tourists in droves — meaning rates will go up and you'll have to book reservations in advance.
If you don’t mind the midday rain, then the green season could be a bit more up your alley. From May to mid-November you'll get most of the beaches to yourself, and rates will go down quite a bit. Additionally, Costa Rica will be at its greenest with lush, natural abundance.
Why Manuel Antonio?
