Traveling on vacation with the entire family can be an amazing experience that creates lifelong memories. Of course, enjoying the trip with grandma and grandpa makes it extra special, but it’s important to find the perfect accommodation that provides enough comfort and amenities for everyone.

Montage Kapalua Bay in Hawaii delivers that home-away-from-home retreat by offering spacious 1- to 4-bedroom residences that range in size from 1250 sq.-ft. to 4,050 sq.-ft., so even the cousins can come along. Located on the northwest coast of Maui above picturesque Kapalua Bay and 33 miles away from Maui’s Kahului Airport, families can explore this 24-acre resort together, including its five bays and three white sand beaches.

Making everyone happy on a family vacation takes work, but at Montage there are activities for everyone of all ages – from the adventurous to the cultural. Choose from tennis, miniature golf and hikes, such as a trek on the mountain ridge trail that offers spectacular views of Mokupe‘a and Honokahua Gulches. During the day, gather the clan for a fishing boat excursion, a trip down the zipline overlooking the West Maui islands, or a helicopter excursion over Haleakala Crater, the lush rainforests of Hana, and the West Maui Mountains. Then, gather around the fire with everyone to watch the extremely popular nighttime luau.

To truly experience the Hawaiian lifestyle, family members can learn how to feed koi, play a ukulele and perform traditional hula storytelling. There are also artist exhibitions, cultural programs, and dairy farm tours.

Remember, just because it’s a family vacation doesn’t mean that the kids and adults can’t participate in their own activities. Kids can sign up for adult-free half-day and full-day sessions of arts and crafts and games in the Paintbox program for 5-12 year olds. Teens have the M-Teens program for ages 12 to 15 that also includes snorkeling, paddle boarding and club activities. While the kids are busy, the adults can unwind with a fitness class or relax with a caviar facial or hot stone massage and spa treatment. Facials and massages are also available for 12- to 15-year-olds.

    Cuisine Choices

After building up an appetite, Montage has something for every family member’s palate. Cane & Canoe (which means from the land and from the sea, respectively) offers a wide variety of menu options, including a full breakfast buffet with pancakes and omelets and lunch and dinner menus that include a decadent lobster mac and cheese and a tasty sesame seared mahi mahi. Pair it with one of their island inspired cocktails. The little ones have plenty to choose from on their own Keiki menu, such as grilled cheese, hot dogs, burgers and pizza.

For dining in, suites are equipped with full gourmet kitchens or Montage chefs can pamper guests with privately cooked meals. And, for those families who just do not want to leave the poolside, Sunset Patio’s light lunch menu includes sweet treats, salads, burgers, pizza and more.
