When traveling to a destination like Hawaii the first thing that you may picture is sun, sand and taking a cool dip in the ocean.

For Ka`anapali Beach Hotel the experience runs far deeper.

Being recognized as Hawaii’s Most Hawaiian Hotel this means having a commitment to perpetuating the culture, encouraging guests to explore all that this island has to offer and helping them experience true Aloha.

Some of the many ways in which KBH does this is through its events. If you are a culture seeker and looking for that Hawaiian experience then you will want to jump on the plane to join them in time for Hula O Na Keiki, Maui’s only keiki (children’s) hula solo competition. Having just celebrated its 25th year, this event has children come from outer islands, mainland US and Japan to compete.

Buzzing with energy the event gives a platform to the haumana (students) to compete on many levels, through Hula, Oli (chant) and interview, not only does this event perpetuate the Hawaiian culture to future generations and intrigued event comers but also stands as a first step in building the confidence of the children who perform on stage in front of a large audience and esteemed judges. This annual event happens every November.

Ka`anapali Beach Hotel also supports events such as the Maui Hawaii Steel Guitar Festival that has just celebrated its 8th annual festival. This event has been developed to promote appreciation and interest in the Hawaiian Steel Guitar. The festival includes three days of live performances, daily classes, workshops and exhibitions.

If your client is looking to try new experiences, the hotel also offers events that complement the guests more adventurous side. The main event for outdoor activities hosted by KBH is the Maui Jim Oceanfest. This event presented by Maui Jim Sunglasses will be a Two-Day ocean festival comprised of 10 individual Sprint Races in multi-disciplined contests.

The races take place around an established course of buoys in the waters of Ka’anapali Beach fronting the Ka’anapali Beach Hotel. Men and Women can test their skills in a multitude of individual races accumulating points along the way in both the Open Division and Age Group Divisions. The event will crown an Overall Waterman and Waterwomen in all divisions after the “Waterman Challenge” finale race.

A second sports event that the Hotel hosts is the Maui Channel Swim. Here competitors brave the channel between neighboring island of Lana`i and Maui with the finish line being Ka`anapali Beach fronting the hotel itself. If not participating, guests are encouraged to cheer on the competitors as they land on shore.
