Resolve To See The World – One City At A Time

Resolve To See The World – One City At A Time

PHOTO: Geneva, Switzerland should be one of the cities on your travel bucket list.

New Year’s Resolutions: A promise we make to ourselves to do better, be better, and enjoy life a little bit more.

This year, add travel to your list of resolutions.

This world is full of an incredible number of must-see destinations, so much culture to be learned, and so much local insight to be digested. Here’s where you should go in 2016:

    Dublin, Ireland

Ireland is a must for anyone who loves the city, but wants easy access to natural beauty. Dublin is a great city center, home to the historical architecture of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Trinity College as well as many local pubs. Drive to see the Giant’s Causeway, Cliffs of Moher, Ring of Kerry and the Lakes of Killarney, Dingle Peninsula, and even kiss the Blarney Stone.

    Munich, Germany

Google “Neuschwanstein Castle” and tell me you wouldn’t want to go visit that magnificent palace! Munich is a fantastic city for beer lovers (home to Oktoberfest), car fanatics (tour BMW World), and history buffs (watch the world-famous Glockenspiel, which recreates a royal wedding from the 16th century). Of course, if you’re keen on playing prince or princess for a day, there’s plenty of additional palaces to visit (Nymphenburg Palaces & Park, Linderhof Castle, Munich Residenz, to name a few).

    Vienna, Austria

Music lovers rejoice! The “City of Music” has been the residence of more famous composers than any other city. Dance your way through Vienna, starting with Schönbrunn Palace. Famous landmarks include Heldenplatz with nearby Hofburg Palace, the National Theater, the State Opera House, Parliament, City Hall, renowned museums, and the Strauss Monument. A bonus: the Danube River offers magical views, especially in the evening.

    Geneva, Switzerland

Yodeling voices are not required. Enjoy the stunning scenery that only Switzerland can provide. Lake Geneva is breathtakingly beautiful, and is home to the world’s tallest fountain, Jet d’Eau, which can be admired throughout the city. Visit St. Peter’s Cathedral, a Romanesque-Gothic church and wander around the Old Town with its cobblestone streets or take a cruise on the lake. Geneva offers a short drive to Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps and Western Europe. You can ride a cable car to a 12,391-foot-high peak and enjoy striking views of the Chamonix Valley and the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps, and take a lift to the summit terrace at 12,605 feet for stunning panoramas.

    Las Vegas, Nevada

Why Las Vegas? It’s a great starting point for the road trip of a lifetime! Check off all your North America bucket list items in one trip – Grand Canyon National Park, Lake Powell, Monument Valley, Moab, Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, and Zion National Park. Here you'll find unforgettable, spellbinding landscapes that will excite your senses, and make it a summer to remember.

    Rio de Janerio, Brazil

For those who love an adventure, Rio offers that and more. Take a cog-wheel train through lush tropical vegetation of Tijuca Forest to the top of Corcovado Mountain, one of the new Seven Modern Wonders of the World and home to the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer. Breathtaking 360-degree panorama views of the city and beaches below are reason enough to go, but Rio offers so much more. Food – barbecued meats marinated and roasted over charcoal in true Brazilian style. Nature – take a Jeep tour to the rainforest. History – discover Petropolis, a mountain resort and site of the former summer palace of the emperor. Beaches – relax; you’re on vacation! Adventure – take a cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain.

    Buenos Aires, Argentina

See why Buenos Aires is nicknamed the “Paris of South America," with its European-influenced culture, vibrant sounds and colors, and a distinctly Latin vibe. Tango shows, live music, and great food are just a few things awaiting you in this cosmopolitan city. The Colon Theatre is the pride of Buenos Aires. Visit Avenida de Mayo, Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosada, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Cabildo. Ship in the oldest district, San Telmo, and stop by colorful La Boca and Palermo. Make the trip unique by learning about the gauchos lifestyle on a traditional estancia (ranch), or cruise down the Tigre River surrounded by beautiful landscapes and impressive homes.

This year, keep your New Year’s Resolution and travel – it’s the only thing you can buy that makes you richer. Where are you traveling in 2016?
