Once again, the all-inclusive, adults-only Sonesta Ocean Point Resort will play host to Chefs Night, an exclusive culinary event founded by Chef Gorgen Tiden highlighting the talents of a team of award-winning Swedish chefs that will be visiting the resort to dazzle guests with their gastronomic prowess.
Sonesta Ocean Point aims to provide guests with an exceptional vacation experience and the unique Chefs Night concept and the team's distinctive culinary expertise, not only elevates the gastronomic offerings at Sonesta Ocean Point but is trailblazing a new food scene in St. Maarten.
The three-day event, taking place Oct. 26-28, will feature gourmet dinners showcasing Scandinavian-French-Caribbean fusion cuisine designed by the visiting chefs, a shopping excursion for fresh local ingredients, and more. Chefs Night was born of the notion that a gastronomic experience should be shared and enjoyed among family and friends. Sonesta Ocean Point furthers this idea and intends to elevate the all-inclusive experience by continuing the Chefs Night series after a successful debut event earlier this year, set on the most spectacular location on the westernmost point of St. Maarten.
Guests of Ocean Point have the chance join the chef team on a morning shopping excursion to local St. Maarten markets to pick up fresh ingredients for the dinners with a stop at a local chocolate factory and lunch at an island favorite, Chez Yvette. Further, guests will have a chance to mingle with the chefs at an exclusive cocktail party at Ocean Point’s gorgeous rooftop Sunset Lounge. Two sumptuous dinner events will take place at Azul Restaurant, showcasing the chefs’ Scandinavian-French-Caribbean fusion culinary creations.
Sonesta Ocean Point is proud to host the following Participating Chefs and is looking forward to hosting additional Chefs Night events in the future.
• Gorgen Tiden, the founder of Chefs Night, has worked around the globe from Corfu to Nice collaborating with Michelin-starred chefs such as Alain Llorca.
• Fredrik Borgskog, a pastry chef, has placed in numerous culinary competitions such as the Coupe du Monde de la Patisserie and the Nordic Pastry Cup.
• Christophe Buchet got his start at Eriks i Gamla Stan in Stockholm and Le Chevalet in Versailles and has experience at no fewer than five Michelin-starred restaurants.
• Jurgen Grossmann’s career has spanned many acclaimed restaurants including Sweitzer Stuben, a two Michelin star restaurant as Chef de Cuisine. He also opened his own restaurants, the one Michelin starred L'Escargot and Gasslingen.
