River cruising is really starting to hit its stride and come out of its baby-boomer shell. This summer, will see more families taking to the rivers than ever before, aided by the launch of Adventures by Disney family cruises. But Tauck has been catering to the family market since 2010 - and increased demand has necessitated more family cruises in more destinations for 2017.
Tauck recently announced plans for a new river cruise for families on the Seine River in France. This will be the company's fourth itinerary - and fourth river - that it has launched specifically for families. The new, eight-day Family Fun Along the Seine: Paris to Normandy is set to debut in 2017.

In addition to offering additional itineraries that are specific to families, Tauck is doubling its capacity with additional departures. This year, the company will have 10 departures for families. Next year, that number will jump to 20 itineraries onboard nine vessels on the Danube, the Rhine, the Seine, the Saone, the Moselle and the Main rivers.
The new itinerary on the Seine begins in Paris. There is an included two-night hotel stay at the Paris InterContinental Le Grand hotel. Families will be able to participate in a scavenger hunt at the Louvre, have dinner in the Eiffel Tower, choose from a panoramic city tour or a guided bicycle tour around the city and more before boarding the ms Sapphire for a five-night cruise through France.
Along the river, guests will visit Monet's house and gardens in Giverny, take a walking tour of Les Andelys or choose an optional hike to Chateau Gaillard, visit Versailles and either bike through the gardens or tour the palace interior and visit the D-Day beaches in Normandy where there are hands-on encounters with World War II-era equipment and a visit to an American cemetery.
Tauck is also enhancing its other France river cruise itinerary for families. Bon Voyage! France Family River Cruise on the Rhone will see the addition of the bicycle tour in Paris (during the same two-night stay offered on the new itinerary) as well as a chocolate-painting experience in Arles.
