    The Cultural and Environmental Influence That Sets Grand Sirenis Apart

    Upon arriving at Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya, guests may assume that the triangular structure of the buildings might be a new, modern design. Many are taken by surprise to learn that the architectural influence throughout the property was taken from the ancient Mayan civilization.

    The local culture and environmental awareness plays a significant role in contributing to the authenticity and ambiance of Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. These indigenous aspects contribute greatly to the details that take Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa beyond the beautiful luxury resort that it is, and setting it apart from the other typical all-inclusive resorts in the area.

    Spa Grand Sirenis has always been one of the most prominent features at Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya.  Regarded as one of the most highly rated spas in the area, it has won a variety of awards for its standards of exceptionalism in service and treatment quality.

    A space created with advanced technology, Spa Grand Sirenis offers guests with a range of unique treatments. The hydrotherapy experience, hosted in our floatarium, helps release muscle tension and chronic fatigue while chromotherapy has a harmonizing and balancing effect on the body and mind through various color therapy rituals.

    The ancient Mayan influence can be found at Spa Grand Sirenis in one of the specialty feature treatments that the Spa offers. The Temazcal treatment is a pre-Hispanic ritual consisting of a steam bath with hot stones and medical plants which provide physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits. Furthermore, this ceremony is led by a local Shaman for and added sense of authenticity. 


    A newer addition to Grand Sirenis is the launching of their new green initiative, EcoSirenis. Guests can explore the natural surroundings of the hotel through the eco-trails exemplify some of the different ecosystems that are prominent to the region such as the costal scrub, the jungle, and the mangroves. All of these ecosystems are additionally reflected in the resort funded conservation nursery. The Vivero nursery is home to over 22 different species of flora and fauna, and is dedicated to the preservation of the at risk species in the area.

    Guests can join guided bicycle and hiking tours led by Grand Sirens staff and learn all about the different plants and animals indigenous to the area and the importance of protecting the environment. While EcoSirenis offers many opportunities for adventure and exploration, it is not the only place where guests can experience the natural surroundings of Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. The coral reef ecosystems right off the Grand Sirenis beach are teeming with colorful fish and ready to be explored. Guests can grab some snorkel gear and venture out on their own or join a guided snorkel tour to further learn about the aquatic species that are inhabitant to the area.  


    Finally, the Mayan Dinner experience allows guests to further experience how the combination of the local culture and environmental impact activities and the overall ambiance at Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. The for an extra charge, pre-registered guests attending this weekly event are brought on an evening walk through the new Vivero Nursery, which is illuminated by Tiki torches with a narration of the Mayan history that follows the guests until the end of the trail. At this point guests are given light refreshments as they watch a lively Mayan “welcome” dance performance, reflective of ancient traditions complete with costumes to the flame theatrics. 

    After this ritual, the group is brought back to the Grand Sirenis beach for an oceanfront dinner. Here guests are presented with a wide spread of Mayan cuisine and an array of various delicacy dishes.  The entertainment continues with Mayan rituals performed as guests taste test everything that catches their eye at this exotic buffet. At the End of the night, guests are shuttled back from the beach to the main lobby.

    There are many aspects of Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya that set it apart from the rest of the hotels in the area. The grand opening of Dolphin Discovery Tulum-Akumal at the Grand Sirenis Property made it one of the only partnerships in Riviera Maya where a dolphin park is accessible to guests on property. Furthermore, the lazy river tubing experience along with the free Ice cream bar, and coffee shop at Grand Sirenis, are not commonly found at other all-inclusive resorts.

    But there is something to be said about the extent to which Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya takes every opportunity to incorporate the beauty and origin of the land.  The rich culture of the ancient Maya is inherent throughout the property illuminating the historic customs of the civilization, while the environmentally friendly initiatives that strive to protect and conserve the ecosystems and species native to the area. This deep pride that Grand Sirenis has for the habitat in which it was fostered, developed and allowed to succeed in, is what truly sets it apart from the rest.
