One of the highlights of any visit to Thailand is taking advantage of the countless Thai massages on offer. While many of our favorite treatments were less than $10 at small, walk-in venues, there are, of course, plenty of luxurious options available, all of which certainly warrant the extra splurge. Of all the Thai islands, Koh Samui undoubtedly has some of the must luscious spa menus on offer, with a vast number of five-star facilities tucked away into stunning, one-of-a-kind locations.
Here’s a snapshot of our favorite spa venues around the island:
Tamarind Springs Spa
For a full day of pampering, head to the gorgeous Tamarind Springs Spa. Located down a quiet, palm-fringed path, this venue offers a vast array of massages and body treatments, including scrubs and facials. For ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation, don’t miss the “Steam and Dream.” This add-on includes an hour and a half in the facility’s natural herbal steam cave and cold-water rock pool. You won’t be able to snap any photos of the spectacular setting as the spa has a strict no phones/cameras/gadgets policy, but this also means you’ll be able to fully disconnect from the stresses of daily life.
Cave Rai Rai Spa

Next up is the lovely Cave Rai Rai Spa, conveniently located on beautiful Choeng Mon Beach. As the name suggests, Cave Rai Rai Spa is, in fact, located within a spectacular cave, not far from the lapping ocean waves. You’ll have a personal massage suite, including a private Jacuzzi, open-air bathroom and lily pond. If you’ve got the time, then try the signature Cave Rai Rai package, which comes with all three of the spa’s signature treatments: an herbal steam Jacuzzi, body scrub and massage.

If you’re planning to visit Koh Samui’s popular Big Buddha Statue, then plan to leave some extra time also to stop by the nearby Amezcua Spa. Here, each spa treatment includes a foot bath and unique chakra balancing session. You don’t have to be familiar with the chakras to appreciate the luxurious experience. The spa is most famous for their “Touch of Siam” package, which includes a Thai herbal steam, Jacuzzi, body wrap and massage.
Kamalaya Koh Samui

Located in an upscale resort, this wellness sanctuary is the perfect place to base yourself during a Koh Samui escape. Specifically, Kamalaya is “centered around a monk's cave that once served Buddhist monks as a place of meditation and spiritual retreat.” When you’re not enjoying the sweeping views from your hotel room or stretching it out during a blissful yoga session, head to the spa for a number of healing massages. No matter how you choose to spend your stay here, you’re guaranteed to return home from the detox feeling like a brand new person.
These are our top choices for a luxurious spa getaway in Koh Samui, but as always, we want to know yours! Have you indulged in any memorable spa treatments in Thailand? Where do you recommend?
