A visit to bustling Vancouver is a real treat. You'll find one of the most diverse cities in the world as well as one of Canada's most densely populated. You might even catch a glimpse of a Hollywood starlet or two, as Vancouver is a frequent film location. When you find yourself there, why not try these things listed below. They are a few of our top picks.

    Stanley Park

Stanley Park is about 1,000 acres in size and has so much to see. If you want to take it slow, climb aboard one of their horse-drawn carriages. However, if you prefer to trek on foot, strap on some good walking shoes. Be sure to bring a camera to take in all of those amazing views of the waterfront.

    Rainy Day Surprise

Downpours are common in Vancouver, but rather than let them ruin your day, why not see how the locals enjoy a little precipitation. Head over to Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Gardens for a unique experience. They have fabricated their own drip tiles that allow the water to drip from the roof like one massive bead curtain. The sounds produced when it hits the pebbles in the courtyard and the pond itself are a feast for the senses.

    Grind the Grouse

Known to the locals as “mother nature's stairmaster,” Grouse Mountain has one of the largest wooden step pathways in the world. The climb is arduous but is worth it if you are an adrenaline junkie. Of course, there is a much easier way to scale the side of the peak — simply take a gondola known as the Sky Ride. One leaves the base every 15 minutes.

    Eat Sushi Like a King

Vancouver’s considerable Japanese population means the sushi here is among the most inexpensive and plentiful in North America. It's also some of the best. You can find more creations and special dishes at places like the Blue Water Cafe and Raw Bar. If you want to go a bit more traditional then check out Okada Sushi and choose a lobster from their live tank. Depending on your price point, simply check the advertisements in the downtown area. You're sure to find one to fit your budget.

    Get Naked

Though common in Europe, nude beaches are not as common in North America. Wreck Beach is Canada's only nudist beach. It is also quite infamous. While you're there, you can count yourself as one of the half million people who check out the beach every year. Just be prepared for a revealing experience.

    Shop Upscale

South Main used to be littered with antique shops, but they are slowly drying up as the area is being taken over by trendy retail and high-fashion clothing boutiques. In fact, it is now known as the fashion district for the city. If you're looking for upscale clothing, this is the hotspot.

    Vancouver Art Gallery

This must-see location is home to some of the most noteworthy national and international modern art exhibits. Take an afternoon and stroll through admiring works by the likes of such artists as Emily Carr. Her popular art is featured prominently throughout the gallery.
