Rail Europe, Switzerland Tourism Offer Family Rail Sale

May 01, 2011 9:36 PM

Rail Europe Inc., the largest distributor of European rail products, has partnered with Switzerland Tourism and the Swiss Travel System to offer families exclusive savings on travel throughout Switzerland with the Switzerland Family Rail Sale.

This spring, families can have 50 percent savings on select Swiss Passes when traveling with children. The Switzerland Family Rail Sale is a limited time offer and must be booked by May 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Travel must take place within six months of purchase. Bookings can be made by visiting Rail Europe’s website or by calling Rail Europe’s contact center.

With an incredibly comprehensive and navigable transportation system, Switzerland provides families with an inexpensive and convenient way to enjoy all the country has to offer. The Swiss Pass allows unlimited travel on all trains, boats and postal buses which make up the Swiss Travel System. It is particularly convenient for families, as kids up to 16 years of age always ride for free when accompanied by a parent or guardian, and all Swiss Pass holders get free access to more than 400 museums in Switzerland.

With the Switzerland Family Rail Sale, families can select from a 50 percent savings on the Swiss Pass or the Swiss Flexi Pass. The Swiss Saver Pass provides eight consecutive days of travel and starts at $305 for first class and $204 for second class. For families seeking a shorter, more open-ended travel period, the Swiss Saver Flexi Pass allows for any three days for travel -- consecutive or non-consecutive -- within one month starting at $204 for first class and $135 for second class.

In addition to the exclusive savings, the Switzerland Family Rail Sale includes one free adult ticket and 50 percent off the second adult ticket from Engelberg Trübsee-Stand to the top of Mount Titlis; and kids under 16 years of age ride for free with the Swiss Family Card, when travelling with a parent or guardian. This excursion involves riding in a series of three cable cars including Rotair -- the world’s first revolving cable car. Mount Titlis is central Switzerland’s loftiest peak, reaching an altitude of over 10,000 feet and families can experience breathtaking views of the country’s mountains, lakes and forests.

Also available is a free Ice Flyer ride for the family to the Titlis Glacier Park and free admission to the park, located at the top of Mount Titlis. The Ice Flyer ride is a chair-lift ride over the glacier crevasses from a height of 10,000 feet. Also available are two free fast baggage vouchers. Each voucher is valid for two pieces of baggage per family and allows one-way, same-day baggage transfers between 45 train stations in Switzerland. Each family member will also receive a free Mount Titlis baseball hat. For more information, visit www.agent.raileurope.com or www.MySwitzerland.com/rail.
