Royal Caribbean Takes Delivery of Allure of the Seas

Royal Caribbean International took delivery on Oct. 28 of the 225,282-ton, 5,400-guest Allure of the Seas from STX Europe shipyard in Turku, Finland. With Capt. Hernan Zini at the helm, Allure of the Seas will depart Turku on Oct. 29, starting the 13-day countdown to her U.S. debut into its homeport of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 11.

Allure of the Seas joins sister Oasis of the Seas as the world’s largest and most revolutionary cruise ship. The official naming ceremony for Allure of the Seas will take place on Nov. 28 during a one-night benefit for the United Way chapters of Miami-Dade and Broward counties, among other charities. A four-night sailing on Dec. 1 will call at the line’s private beach destination of Labadee along the north coast of Haiti. The inaugural seven-night Western Caribbean cruise will depart on Dec. 5.
