Scenic Cruises christened its sixth “Space-Ship,” the Scenic Crystal, in Rüdesheim, Germany on April 25. The 169-passenger Scenic Crystal joins the line’s five other “Space-Ships” -- the Scenic Pearl, Scenic Emerald, Scenic Sapphire, Scenic Diamond and Scenic Ruby. Glen Moroney, founder and managing director, was on hand for the christening event.
The ship’s 85 cabins offer sliding doors that convert a private, open-air balcony to a weatherproof lounge with the touch of a button. More than 80 percent of the accommodations have full-size balconies. Every room features a queen-size “Scenic Slumber Bed” with fine linens and a pillow menu. Junior and Royal Suites include butler service. Scenic offers what it calls inclusive cruising, meaning that meals in three dining venues are included as are complimentary wines, beers and soft drinks with meals, tours, entertainment, airport transfers, and gratuities and baggage handling.
