AmaWaterways is a leading river cruise line on Europe’s Danube, Douro, Main, Mosel, Rhine, Rhone and Seine rivers, with additional destinations through its AmaVoyages division (Portugal, Russia, Vietnam & Cambodia, Myanmar and Africa). With a trio of industry pioneers at its helm, the fleet’s signature Twin Balcony staterooms and hotel-style amenities offer discriminating travelers unparalleled comfort, convenience and style.
AmaWaterways is proud of the many innovations that have set the company apart as a trend-setting river cruise industry leader. With an exceptional staff, exquisite cuisine, enriching theme cruises and numerous complimentary amenities, an AmaWaterways river cruise is more than a vacation – it’s a collection of unforgettable experiences.
An Award-Winning Fleet
AmaWaterways’ ever-expanding fleet of ships services destinations around the globe. In 2014, guests can choose from 12 luxurious, custom-designed vessels in Europe; an eco-friendly ship on the Douro in Portugal; two ships on the Mekong in Vietnam and Cambodia; a redesigned vessel on the Russian Waterways; a “floating lodge” for wildlife cruises on the Chobe River in southern Africa; and a new ship on the Ayeyarwady River in Myanmar (Burma), set to debut in November 2014.
AmaWaterways offers a number of special interest theme cruises with complimentary programming not found on any other river cruise line. Their “In Celebration of Wine” cruises bring the wine culture and traditions of Europe to life, featuring guest hosts, wine tastings and specially-arranged wine excursions. Jewish Heritage cruises highlight the rich Jewish history and culture along the Danube. Christmas Market cruises are perennial holiday season favorites in Europe every November and December. Other theme cruises planned for 2014 include a Chocolate Cruise and a Knitting Cruise.
AmaWaterways’ excellent river cruise captains boast years of collective expertise on the great waterways of the world. Most come from fine seafaring traditions, such as Chief Captain Jan de Bruijn, who has more than 37 years of experience.
AmaWaterways’ crew is considered the most highly-trained and dedicated crew in the industry. Positions aboard AmaWaterways vessels are highly-prized and the company’s rigorous selection process ensures a crew that is second to none.
Guests give AmaWaterways’ cuisine rave reviews. And that comes as no surprise, considering that Executive Chef Primus Perchtold is a 3-time gold medal-winner at the European Championship of Culinary Art. All AmaWaterways’ ships in Europe are members of the prestigious Chaîne des Rôtisseurs culinary guild, serving delicious and beautifully presented multi-course made with the freshest locally-sourced ingredients.
AmaWaterways’ newest custom-designed ships feature the most innovative design and extensive amenities in Europe, including ultra-spacious staterooms and suites; Twin Balconies; multiple dining venues; swimming pool with swim-up bar; fitness room and Sun Deck walking track; beautiful décor and comfortably stylish public spaces.
An AmaWaterways cruise features a host of complimentary extras that you won’t find with other lines, such as daily shore excursions tailored for different walking paces; guided bicycle tours; nightly onboard entertainment; unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks with every lunch and dinner; “Limited Edition Tours” (alternative shore excursions in select locations); in-room Internet, movies and Wi-Fi access; and much more.
