Tahiti Tourisme Reports 8 Percent Increase in North American Arrivals

According to Tahiti Tourisme, North American arrivals for June 2012 to the islands of Tahiti are up 8 percent over June 2011. Cruise passenger arrivals were up 5 percent year over year. North Americans accounted for 39.5 percent of all Tahiti visitors for the first six months of 2012.

The U.S. delivered 26,369 visitors, while Canada delivered 3,965 visitors and Mexico delivered 502 visitors, for a total of 30,836 visitors and from January to June 2012. Land arrivals excluding VFR (family and friends visiting the islands) for the same month were up 9.5 percent over June 2011. Total North American paid room nights for June 2012 increased 9 percent over June 2011.
