TripAdvisor unveiled the winners of its inaugural Travelers’ Choice Awards for Travel Favorites. The awards are designed to honor the essential items travelers insist on having with them wherever they go, from luggage and cameras to e-readers and sunscreen.

The Travelers’ Choice Awards for Travel Favorites are based on votes of thousands of travelers from the U.S. and around the world, covering 15 categories with winning travel brands and products in the U.S., U.K., France, Italy and Spain.

Favorite in category and item, respectively, were: camera, Canon; coffee, Starbucks; e-reader, Kindle; GPS/Satnav, Garmin; headphones, Bose; insect repellent, Off; luggage, Samsonite; magazine, People; rain jacket, The North Face; sunglasses, Ray-Ban; sunscreen, Neutrogena; swimwear, Speedo; travel guide, Lonely Planet; travel magazine, National Geographic; and walking shoes, Nike.
