U.K.’s Travel Counsellors Launches “Dream App” to Fulfill Travel Fantasies

July 30, 2012 11:00 PM

Travel Counsellors, an independent travel company based in Bolton, England, has launched a “dream app” on Facebook designed to enable users to share their travel dreams, with the chance to win 10,000 British pounds (approximately $15,700) toward their ideal holiday.

In a recent survey of more than 1,800 people, Travel Counsellors found that 70 percent stated that they have yet to go on their dream vacations. Of the 30 who claimed to have taken their dream trips, 71 percent said these trips met all of their expectations.

Users can search for the app on Facebook and submit their dream vacations, along with pictures. They can also access a dedicated area within the site that offers details on experiences such as becoming a cowboy in the Montana desert or having a private butler in an exclusive Caribbean hideaway. The company will announce the winning entry in September.

When naming their ideal getaways, nearly half of the respondents said they are seeking a relaxing escape, followed by people who said a journey of exploration and discovery. Another response was a luxury cruise. The most popular reasons for not taking their dream trip included work and family commitments, as well as time and budget restraints.
