World Travel Holdings Brings Land Package Sales, Service in House

World Travel Holdings (WTH) is bringing the sales and servicing of land vacation packaging in house, starting Oct. 7. Currently, the retail travel network outsources most of those duties, according to David Crooks, WTH’s senior vice president of product operations.
Since the company, which predominantly has sold cruises, villa rentals and groups, started offering land packages through its CruiseOne and Cruises Inc. brands in 2009, sales for that segment have grown. Those two brands reported a 35 percent jump in land sales for the first nine months of 2012 over the same period last year.
WTH also sells land packages through two other company-owned brands -- Vacation Outlet and Rooms.com -- as well as through BJ’s Travel, one of its private-label partners. “The difference is that we will now be handling calls in house and ramping up our focus on land packages in advertising and marketing,” Crooks said.
WHT has hired a full-time, dedicated team of vacation package professionals from within the company to focus on the sales and service of all vacation packages.
