Danube River

The second longest river on the European continent, the Danube River flows not only through Budapest but also through other cities like Bratislava and Vienna.

We found the best way to enjoy the sights is to hop onboard a Danube cruise to take in the beautiful sights of Budapest on both sides of the river. This can be done during the day for clear views of the sites, or at night to enjoy the lit-up buildings.

Eger Castle

In the smaller city of Eger lies the medieval Eger Castle. An enjoyable outing for the whole family, the castle has seen a lot of history, most notably the Turkish attack of 1552.

There are guided tours of the castle available, and exhibitions include a dungeon, weapons, a cathedral, and more. Learn more about the history of war and conflict in Hungary, and take a step back in time with the collections of artifacts and reenactments.

Buda Castle

A remembrance of Hungarian royal history, the Buda castle in Budapest is a castle and palace complex that once housed the Kings of Hungary. Today, it is a must-see attraction in the capital city.

The castle is now home to the National Gallery, Budapest History Museum, and the National Library. Wander around the stunning outdoor areas around the castle at no cost, or pay a nominal entrance fee for the institutions housed in the castle to get inside.

Hungarian Parliament Building

In our opinion, one of the most remarkable buildings in Budapest is undoubtedly the Hungarian Parliament building. With the scale and the intricate detail of the structure, it is impossible to miss.

The interior of the building is just as striking as the exterior. You can buy a ticket to enter for a guided tour of the parliament.

Grand Market Hall

If you want to sample every kind of Hungarian delicacy or shop for unique local goods, you will find everything you want (and more) at the extraordinary Grand Market Hall in Budapest.

The market hall is enormous. There are endless rows of gourmet food, fresh produce, flowers, clothes, and everything else you could imagine. You could spend hours browsing through, so you may want to come back a few times to try everything that catches your eye.

Tokaj Wine Region

For a serene break away from the busy cities, we suggest an escape to the wine country. The historic Tokaj wine region in Hungary offers amazing views and nature, top-quality wine, and relaxation.

We suggest going for a day trip and some wine tasting or immersing yourself in the wine lands with a stay in the region for a few days. Either way, if you are a wine lover, this is one attraction you cannot miss.

Szechenyi Thermal Bath

For a truly unique experience, take a dip in the Szechenyi Thermal Bath. This is one of the largest natural hot spring baths in Europe and we couldn’t recommend it more.

There are 18 pools, and crystal blue bodies of water surrounded by yellow Baroque buildings making it seem like an oasis.

People have been soaking in this spa bath for over 100 years. The supposed health benefits of the water include skin detox, increased circulation and metabolism, and pain relief.

Discover Hungary

With so many fascinating, enjoyable things to see and do in Hungary, from soaking in hot springs to wine tasting in Tokaj and everything in between, this is the ultimate European getaway for discovery and
