While some are splurging for that bucket-list international trip, others are content to stay closer to home this year, opting to stay in nearby cities and explore their own backyards. My Baggage analyzed Google search data to present us with the top trending staycation destinations in the U.S.

New York City is now open for business and pleasure! Broadway, New York-style pizza and the Statue of Liberty all await you here in the Big Apple. New York has seen a 600 percent increase in searches lately, tied only with our next destination.

Tied with New York in the top for the greatest search increase is Minneapolis, Minnesota. This one half of what is known as the Twin Cities is not just a college town; it's within close proximity to some of the state's best lakes and features great restaurants, street art and more!

Miami, Florida is known for its vibrant culture, nightlife and restaurant scene, making this city the third top trending staycation destination. Searches are up 433 percent for this city.

Las Vegas is the star-studded nightlife capital of the country, and it's no wonder why searches are up 418 percent. With great entertainment (Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Celine Dion are just a few great performers coming to the city to perform), restaurants and nightlife, Las Vegas is a perfect staycation for fun-loving or music-loving individuals.

Los Angeles shares fourth place with our next city, with searches up 400 percent. The city where dreams come true, Los Angeles offers a plethora of fun activities to do, from hiking to shopping and more.

Baltimore is the fourth highest trending destination, tied with Los Angeles. This historic East Coast city is not lacking anything for a perfect staycation. From parks to museums and more, Baltimore makes a great staycation destination.

Portland's searches are up 350 percent since last May, making this city rank fifth in the nation. The original hipster capital of the country, Portland offers staycationers no lack of cultural and outdoor activities to enjoy.

Boston ranks sixth in the nation for staycations, and this multicultural city offers so much to see and do! Boston's various neighborhoods offer distinct experiences for every traveler and are worth exploring for yourselves.

Searches for the capital of the Midwest are up 319 percent from last year. This city, known for its incredible museums, awesome nightlife and Chicago-style pizza and hot dogs offers so much to the staycationer. Plus, so many trains and bus routes, not to mention planes, pass through this city every day, so traveling here is a breeze.

Once the nation's automotive capital, Detroit is growing in prominence among travelers for its unique culture, history and proximity to Lake Michigan. Searches for this destination are up 300 percent.

Philadephia, Pennsylvania lies brimming with history just waiting to be discovered by the eager staycationer. From taking a self-guided history tour to exploring some of the coolest restaurants around (be sure to try out a Philly cheesesteak while you're here), the "City of Brotherly Love" offers staycationers ample activities to enjoy. Searches for Philly are up 267 percent.

San Diego is ranked tenth in the nation, with searches up 233 percent. Featuring beautiful outdoor areas, cliffside beaches, wild sea lions and a world-class museum, any staycationer can find themselves an excitable tourist in this California city.
