A pregnant woman went into labor and delivered her baby during a Jetstar Asia Airways flight last week. In response to the crew's response and kindness, the mother named her baby boy after the airline.
According to FoxNews.com, the new mother was on a flight from Singapore to Yangon, Myanmar, when she went into labor at an altitude of 30,000 feet. Crew members on the Jetstar flight sprung into action and called on three doctors among the passengers for help delivering the baby.
The baby boy-named Saw Jet Star-was born just before the plane landed in Myanmar, and both the mother and child were transported to a local hospital upon arrival. Local news outlets are reporting that the duo has since been discharged happy and healthy.
Jetstar Asia announced that this was the first time a child had been born on one of its flights, and has gifted the mother over $700 for baby supplies. In addition, the doctors onboard who helped deliver the baby were rewarded with Jetstar flight vouchers.
"The happy arrival of baby Jet Star was met with a round of applause from other passengers on the plane, so we're sure it's not a moment they'll ever forget either," a Jetstar spokesperson told FoxNews.com.
The official Jetstar Asia Airways Facebook page shared more details of the incident:
