Southwest Airlines is launching the use of the mobile boarding pass, an electronic document that enables customers to pass security and board the aircraft just by using their mobile device.
The airline is currently testing the functionality on nonstop and direct flights originating out of Austin, Texas beginning Nov. 21 with a full rollout planned for 2014.
The feature will not be available on AirTran flights or international flights out of Austin. Southwest plans a full rollout to all flights throughout 2014.
