Ride-sharing service Uber has become synonymous with the company's black and white logo featuring the letter "U," but the company has also become synonymous with change.
That's why travelers shouldn't be shocked to hear the news that Uber has announced a major change to the logos and branding of the company. With the expansion of the business beyond just ride-sharing, officials thought it was time for a fundamental shift.
First, the Uber logotype has been changed to a more modern and mature text meant to show how much the company has grown up since it began. Add in more of "The Bit" to the website-a small, square box that is the basis of most Uber designs now-and the focus on technology moving forward is obvious.

Another major change is the addition of colors. The old logo was unique, but the black and white design didn't make it pop visually. Not only is Uber adding more color to its website and app, but the company is also tailoring the schemes to fit the country where the service is being used. For example, users in Mexico would have a different color scheme than those using the same app in Ireland or China.
Tech writer Robinson Meyer shared images of the new logos on Twitter:
One of the biggest changes users will notice is that the logo on their phone for the Uber app has also been upgraded. Instead of the simple black-and-white design, users will see a green and blue logo centered by The Bit that has become the focus of the brand.

The Bit is being used to help broaden the way Uber is looked upon, as the company also delivers food and packages now. Using The Bit as the centerpiece of the logo allows Uber to add more designs for other services, while still keeping a common trend amongst all of its apps.
While the logo and branding redesign won't change the prices or service provided by Uber, it will certainly make your experience a little more colorful.
