The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announced the 2014 CLIA Hall of Fame inductees, to be honored at CLIA's cruise3sixty conference and trade show in Fort Lauderdale in April. The inductees are Howard Frank, former vice chairman at Carnival Corp. and current chairman of Costa Crociere, who was named "Outstanding Cruise Industry Executive;" Uf Tukel and Don Walker, co-presidents and founders of WMPH Vacations, named "Outstanding Cruise Retailers;" and Brad and Jeff Tolkin, co-chairmen of World Travel Holdings, who were named "Cruise Sales Innovators."
CLIA's Hall of Fame honors "individuals, past and present, whose efforts and accomplishments represent a significant contribution to, and a positive impact on, the cruise industry." Members are selected based on open nominations from CLIA's membership, which are reviewed by the CLIA trade relations committee.
Frank joined Carnival Corporation as senior vice president-finance and chief operating officer in 1989 and served 25 years at the pioneering cruise line, including tenures as chief operating officer and vice chairman.
Tukel and Walker co-founded cruise and vacation agency We Make People Happy (WMPH) in Delray Beach, Florida in 2004. Today, WMPH has 120 employees and operates under brands including iCruise.com, AlaskaCruises.com, EuropeCruises.com and CruiseCheap.com.
Brad and Jeff Tolkin co-founded World Travel Holdings in 2005, building that business into a leading cruise agency with more than 35 owned and partner cruise brands. Prior to that the pair owned and operated leading wholesaler Travel Impressions. In 1992, they acquired Empress Travel, a 40-store travel agency firm, and expanded it to more than 100 locations.
