Cunard Line'sQueen Mary 2 is about to commence her 2018 Transatlantic Season. The line's flagship ocean liner will return to New York on May 17 to resume the service.
It's a route first launched 178 years ago.
The seven-night voyage across the North Atlantic has long been an iconic endeavor. Well-known figures who have made the trip recently include music producer and actor Ed Sheeran, director and screenwriter Wes Anderson and director Francis Ford Coppola.
"Over the past year, Cunard has seen an incredible demand for our product and experience from regions around the world, with double-digit growth within the North American market," said Josh Leibowitz, senior vice president of Cunard North America. "The unique opportunity to step away from day to day life and feel inspired, enriched, and revitalized is one of the reasons passenger feedback continues to be among the best in the industry."
The QM2 was christened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2004. Since then, it's hosted a number of royals. This year, tourism to the UK is expected to spike, due to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. In fact, guests sailing aboard the QM2 on the date of the royal wedding (May 19) will enjoy special onboard events.
During a transatlantic crossing, guests can take part in activities ranging from wine tasting and cocktail mixology, to painting, fencing, and ballroom dancing lessons. The largest library afloat and the only planetarium at sea are additional attractions.
Cunard's Insights program offers experts from different industries on each voyage. For the 2018 season, special event crossings include collaborations with Ancestry.com, NY Fashion Week, and International Space Week.
Queen Mary 2 also accepts four-legged passengers, as the only ship with kennels for dogs and cats.
A total of 24 crossings on QM2 will take place from May to December 2018. Cunard's Big Balcony Event offers fares beginning at $999. Guests can also receive up to $1,400 free onboard credit per stateroom, free drinks and free gratuities in the Princess Grill and Queens Grill suites.
