NYC & Company, New York City's official destination marketing organization, announced Thursday the selection of Brands Travel as its new representative office in Mexico. Based in Mexico City, Brands Travel will spearhead travel trade, communications, marketing, and MICE efforts across Mexico, New York City's ninth-largest international visitor market.

"We are pleased to appoint Brands Travel as our new representative agency in Mexico," said Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company. "As our five-borough destination and global travelers continue to evolve, and we look to expand our outreach across this key visitor market, we believe the Brands Travel team has the expertise and innovation to positively distinguish us from the competition."

The account is led by Brands Travel CEO Carlos Ulibarri, with Carlos Baruki and Mauricio Castillo overseeing trade activity, and Rodrigo Medina managing public relations and marketing efforts in the market.

"New York City is the world's global capital. Its historic sites and iconic monuments serve as a stunning stage for all sorts of impressive contemporary events," said Carlos Ulibarri. "Beyond any doubt, NYC & Company is the leading marketing organization with the best tourism product in the world. We are honored to share our strengths with their great team, and work on their behalf in Mexico."

Last month, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and NYC & Company announced a record 62.8 million travelers visited New York City in 2017, comprising 49.7 million domestic and 13.1 million international visitors-including 466,000 from Mexico. An estimated 485,000 Mexican travelers are expected to visit the City in 2018.
