Fans who once enjoyed Chairry, Pterri and the King of Cartoons will appreciate some amazing news. Pee-wee Herman is back, and the plot of his new movie is very near and dear to our heart: The beloved character is going on a holiday vacation.
A posted press release at Peewee.com delivers the scant details on the upcoming movie that will eventually hit Netflix.
Paul Reubens will again reprise his role as the jovial clown wearing a gray suit and bowtie. In equally awesome news, Judd Apatow will sit in as producer of the film entitled Pee-wee's Big Holiday.
All of this has us wanting to throw on some ridiculous shoes and dance around a biker bar:
Now there isn't much in the way of details as of yet outside of production beginning in March 2015.
Reubens did take to Twitter to show off his classic duds:
As for plot, well, we are mandated to read between the lines there. The release simply states: "In Pee-wee's Big Holiday, a fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger inspires Pee-wee Herman to take his first-ever holiday in this epic story of friendship and destiny."
Herman will again take to the open roads and lose himself in some peculiar adventures, making this the perfect flick for the travel aficionado with a hankering for a whiff of nostalgia.
Although Pee-wee's a previous cinematic endeavor saw him cover great distances already, so we are eager to hear how this changes things.
In 1985's Pee-wee's Big Adventure, the character travels great lengths just to find his bike:
In Big Top Pee-wee, the character stayed close to home, letting a circus set up shop on his farm:
This time around it seems reasonable to assume locations will be spread out as they were in the original movie that saw filming in Santa Monica, San Antonio and Los Angeles' Griffith Park.
In any case, we are inclined to travel along with Pee-wee wherever his holiday fancy happens to take him.
