"Bringing Air Adventure to the world" is the theme of AirVenture Oshkosh, and it is clear to see that it stands true to its word. The air show is in full gear this week with the sky acting as the stage as aircrafts put on a world-class performance to tantalize the crowd.
Following Oshkosh AirVenture's lead, other aviation festivals are decorating the sky as well, with skilful pilots zipping through the clouds in topnotch and vintage planes. So without further due, here are six air shows that proudly celebrate the spirit of aviation.
England: Bournemouth Air Festival
When you incorporate the thrill of the beach with a fascinating airshow, the Bournemouth Air Festival comes to life amid England's clear skies. During its 7th run which will take place on Aug. 28-31, most of the country's residents and locals alike will have their heads in the clouds while experienced pilots perform amazing stunts and jets whip across the skies leaving trails of smoke - all for the excited crowd.
And when it is time to tear your eyes away from the skies street performers, musicians and military bands surround spectators with delightful entertainment. With three miles of excitement draped across a pristine beach and occurring midair, the Bournemouth Air Festival is a must-see adventure that everyone can enjoy. Where else can you enjoy aerobatic presentations, the beach and tons of displays and music for free?
Dubai Airshow
We don't need an excuse to visit one of the richest cities to the world. But when you add death-defying tricks in the midst of Dubai's luxurious flair, you can bet the Dubai Airshow will be an exhilarating experience. After all, last year's performances did break all boundaries, and next year is expected to do the same; if not more.
The Dubai Airshow has come a long way since its debut in 1986 with appearances from exhibitors from across the globe and thousands upon thousands of trade visitors, making its last show a huge success as well as the largest of its kind to grace the heavens. The next show is slated for Nov. 8-12 in 2015, but the world can only assume what new tricks Dubai will have up its sleeve next.
France: Paris Air Show
In order to truly appreciate the technique behind aerobatic stunts, we must first acknowledge the show that started it all. Since 1909, the Paris Air Show has shocked the world with first-rate aircrafts displayed while flying high as well as paraded as open-air displays from the ground.
Last year alone oohs and aahs were echoed from the sea of onlookers witnessing Le Bourget painting the heavens with streams of red, white and blue; drones and helicopters walking in the air; and pilots risking it all for the thrill of their spectators. Even the Airbus A350 made a special appearance with an unforgettable flight.
Hoisted by the natural breezes of the French stratosphere, June 15 -21 in 2015 will be the perfect opportunity to witness the oldest aerospace tradeshow hover over Paris' exotic landscape.
USA: California Capital Airshow
It doesn't take an aviation expert to know that watching military acrobatics is cool. Especially if you're visiting the California Capital Airshow, which takes place Sept. 6-7 and wows the crowd with parachute demonstrations, civilian jet and aerobatic stunts as well.
Not only are the pilots allowed to have all the fun, but spectators can too with interactive games, dazzling exhibits and delicious food amid great music. From midair to on the ground, the California Airshow is immersed in an exciting atmosphere that complements the roar of classic planes and high-tech jets twirling, spinning and whisking through the air.
Nevada: Reno Air Races
When the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron Blue Angels come together, you can guarantee there's going to be a great show in store. And the Reno Air Races does not disappoint, especially with aircrafts like the Formula One, Biplane, jets and T-6 dotting the clear skies of Nevada with their wild acrobatic movements.
As one of the greatest air shows in the U.S., fans from near and far anxiously wait to see what death-defying tricks pilots will be conquering on Sept. 10-14. However, at the Reno Air Races it is much more than watching world-class planes rule the skies. That's because every detail is meticulously handled, including landing, taking off and that unforgettable sound of an aircraft flying at staggering speeds.
Canada: Abbotsford Airshow
It wasn't long before the Abbotsford Airshow became Canada's most successful, and it is easy to see why. It has also added the Twilight Airshow that will debut on Aug. 8 for onlookers wanting to see pyrotechnics and pilots attempt various acrobatic techniques during the evening. That's not all this new aviation presentation has in store. The Canadian Forces CF-18 Hornet will also be using the skies as a platform for their world-class performance.
Along with the debut of this event, the regularly scheduled Abbotsford Airshow will take place on Aug.9-10. So if you're in the area and looking for a fascinating show, check out this Canadian event, which is designed to make the crowd go wild.
