Hilton Worldwide has joined forces with Google Maps to further enhance its HHonors loyalty program app.

By integrating Google Maps into the HHonors app, members are now able to access pivotal details regarding their hotel's rooms before selecting the one they want.

So instead of simply choosing a room based on what's available, HHonors app users will be able to know what their view will look like from each potential room that's available to them.

The new feature will allow users to see where their hotel room is located in relation to nearby streets, public transportation like bus stops and train stations, parks and notable bodies of water. For example, users will know ahead of time whether their room features a view of the highway or faces the west for a potential sunset.

Ultimately, the feature is designed to give guests more control over their stay.

"Guest preferences continue to evolve...by continually evolving our Hilton HHonors app, we're empowering our members with more control over their stay experience," said Hilton's senior vice president and global head of loyalty and partnerships Mark Weinstein in a statement.

But there's more coming.

"Later this year, Hilton HHonors members will be able to see where additional points of interest like landmarks or attractions are in relation to their selected room," Hilton's director of digital product innovation Dana Shefsky told TravelPulse.

So far, Hilton is the only global hotel company offering this feature, which is currently available for thousands of Hilton properties.

"At this time, more than 2,500 Hilton Worldwide hotels integrate Google Maps into their digital check-in with room selection process, giving Hilton HHonors members additional context about the hotel's surroundings and their room's potential view," added Shefsky.

"We'll continue to rapidly roll out the feature to the rest of our portfolio."

Keep in mind the feature is only available to HHonors members who book direct through Hilton's brand websites, its mobile app, reservation call centers or preferred corporate travel partners and agents.

The new map feature is available on both the iOS and Android version of the app and will be made available on the company's brand websites this summer.
