Alexa is the new in-room concierge at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.

The five-star Texas resort is the latest hotel to embrace the Amazon Echo Dot, recently rolling out the hands-free, voice-controlled device in some of its rooms to provide guests with their very own in-room concierge.

The technology allows guests to not only pick Alexa's brain for things like weather updates and driving directions but also connects them with the hotel. For example, guests can use the Echo Dot to access event schedules, make a reservation at one of the seven on-site restaurants, contact room service or track down one of the resort's many amenities.

"This technology provides immediate access to our experience schedules, room service, directions, restaurant information and more, saving time for our business travelers and giving those visiting us for vacation more time to enjoy all that we have to offer," JW Marriott San Antonio General Manager Arthur Coulombe said in a statement.

"We've always enjoyed being at the forefront of technology and this is the newest tool we're excited to offer guests."

Rooms featuring the Echo Dot will include an informative fold-out card detailing nearby locations, hours and times, the resort's various amenities as well as how to book a reservation.

Currently, the Echo Dot is only being tested in 10 of the hotel's rooms and guests aren't able to request rooms with Alexa. However, there are plans to expand the technology to additional guestrooms in the future and perhaps to add a feature allowing guests to request a room with an Echo Dot.

The hotel's guest service manager Joseph Heiden said guests are already enjoying the Echo Dot and that the hotel will continue to embrace new technology in its guestrooms.

In addition to the Echo Dot, guests staying at the JW Marriott San Antonio have access to a variety of digital touchscreen technology outside of their room, including directory boards and games designed for visitors of all ages.

In December, the Wynn Las Vegas announced plans to equip each of its 4,748 hotel rooms with the Amazon Echo. The rollout began inside the hotel's suites late last year but will continue to include every guestroom by summer 2017.
