New hotel developments in Egypt are a sign that the future of the tourism industry is brightening again.
FRHI Hotels and Resorts, the parent company of Swissotel, Raffles and Fairmont and the operator of more than 125 hotels, is adding two new hotels in Egypt as it continues work on a new Sharm El Sheikh development that will include all three hotel brands.
The company plans to build a Fairmont hotel in Soma Bay, on the Red Sea south of Hurghada, and a Swissôtel in Katameyah, Cairo, in addition to the triple hotel complex.
Both of the newly announced hotels are scheduled to open by 2020.
The Soma Bay property is a leisure hotel over a white sand beach. The hotel will have views of ocean, desert and mountains. The location is a 20-minute ride from Hurghada Airport. The location is noted for its diving and kite surfing.
The hotel will have 300 guest rooms and suites and 150 residences. It will have 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space. It will have a wellness center, an all-day dining room, a lobby lounge and bar, a beach restaurant and a specialty restaurant.
Swissôtel Katameyah is located in the Katameyah district of Cairo, an emerging residential and business development within Greater Cairo. The area has a retail and entertainment center, residential buildings and a health and wellness center.
It will have 250 guest rooms and suites and 50 apartments and 18,000 square feet of meeting space. It will offer a number of dining options, including a specialty restaurant, an urban café and lobby lounge, as well as a Pürovel Spa and Sport.
