Situated in the heart of the Emerald City via a street that dead-ends into a plaza across which lights are strung-illuminating long winter nights and lending festivity to any of the city's remarkable seasons-the magic of the Four Seasons Seattle helps you forget you're actually in the city.

It begins with Fonté Coffee. The local brew is available in a gigantic mug hand-painted with Seattle themes. Find it in the morning in the lobby, by the outdoor pool and fitness center, or delivered to guest rooms by the coffee concierge piping hot and to your specifications.

By afternoon, you can get your fix while enjoying the wall of heavenly doughnuts from Seattle's famous TopPot.

Then there are the views. Many guest rooms have partial or full views of the majestic Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.

The hotel even manages to meld the region into guest rooms via charming, thoughtful ways. Upon arrival, I found a selection of apples popularly grown in Washington, with a card explaining the flavors of each and a miniature Boeing 787 model nestled among the sheets to alert housekeeping that freshly laundered linens are desired. Marble and granite guest baths feature rainfall showers and luxuriously deep soaker tubs.

Seattle is a city that prides itself on an indoor-outdoor lifestyle, no matter what the weather may be.

On misty mornings, hang out in your cozy guest room, the cushy Goldfinch Tavern or the fireplace-warmed lobby lounge with a hot beverage (or perhaps a Washington wine or spirit) before heading out to explore the city or wander through nearby Pike Place Market. On long, hot summer days, head down to the waterfront for a walk or a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel, which looms large in most of the hotel's water views.

There are also water views from the year-round outdoor infinity pool and whirlpool-both heated to a steamily comfortable temperature during the winter months-where one can spend the morning swimming, sipping coffee and watching the ferries glide past the piers. In the summer, a pool bar is open for beverages and light bites.

The Takeaway

With an unbeatable location, spectacular views, fine food and cocktails, unforgettable amenities, and top notes of the Emerald City's best features inhabiting the hotel's very soul, this sumptuously intimate luxury lodging is a must-stop for plush-seeking travelers visiting the area.

The Math

Rates start around $515 per night plus tax. Four Seasons also typically posts value dates for upcoming months on the main property page on their website.

Instagrammable Moment

Puget Sound Views from guest rooms, the doughnut wall and the infinity pool were all big hits with my Instagram followers during my visit.

Loyalty

Four Seasons does not operate a loyalty program, but they seem to remember repeat guests' preferences better than the guests themselves.

Good To Know

The tasting menu at Goldfinch is a remarkably good value and focuses on fresh, local ingredients. Take the plunge; you'll be glad you did.

Download the Four Seasons app to keep in touch with the hotel's staff both before and during a stay. One message via the app on my way back from brunch and the bell staff had my stored luggage waiting for me at the door when I arrived to collect my bags and depart for the airport.

Accommodations and meals were furnished by Four Seasons Seattle in preparation for this story.
