Police arrested an armed man Tuesday at Orlando International Airport who they believe was planning to shoot his wife.
According to The Associated Press, Orlando Police announced they arrested 49-year-old William Schultz when an officer on duty recognized him after seeing a tip from the Atlanta Police Department.
Schultz's wife was planning to travel out of state when she began receiving threatening messages via text from her husband. Schultz told her that he would be at the Florida airport when she landed, and she canceled her flight as a result.
The unidentified woman's daughter called the police and reported the threats.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Schultz arrived at the airport Tuesday evening and walked up to a police officer, asking where he could find Terminal A parking.
The officer recognized Schultz from a police briefing the department received earlier in the day and ordered him to stop. After handing over his identification and confirming it was the correct suspect, the officer handcuffed Schultz and brought him into custody.
While police discovered Schultz did have a concealed carry license, it does not permit him to carry a firearm into an airport terminal unless it's properly packed as checked luggage.
As a result of the incident, Schultz has been charged with aggravated stalking with a firearm, carrying a gun in a place where it is prohibited by law and possession of about two grams of marijuana.
