The world is full of funky places where you can order up a cocktail and enjoy the sunset (and sunrise if you're hardcore), but not all beach bars are created equal. In our five years spent traveling to all corners of the globe, we've seen some pretty incredible coastal watering holes. We have listed some of our favorites below - three beach bars you won't want to miss while you're on the tiny Caribbean isle of Grenada. Let's get started!

Laluna

Laluna is set on one of the island's most beautiful beaches and the owners have done an excellent job of making this a zen place to enjoy a glass of wine, a beer or a delicious cocktail. The bar itself is completely open-air, just steps from the powdery white sand. The deck is partially covered with a thatched roof and comfortably furnished with Indonesian daybeds and sofas. The Lounge and Bar face west for maximum "sunset appreciation" and the cocktails here are professionally mixed by courteous bartenders.

The beach bar and lounge are part of the Laluna Resort, a stunning Italian/Balinese-owned paradise that dominates this hidden cove. As Laluna is part of a luxury resort, it's no surprise that the menu here is a bit expensive, but if you go at happy hour from 5-7 p.m., you can enjoy cheap beers for $5 EC ($1.85 USD), $9 EC ($3.33 USD) glasses of wines and $4 EC ($1.50 USD) off of all cocktails.

Umbrellas

If you want to have a nice drink at a good price outside of happy hour, then you're going to want to head down to Umbrellas Bar. Situated on the largest, whitest and arguably most scenic stretch of sand in Grenada, Umbrellas doesn't just serve up delicious cocktails, cheap beers and good wine, it also has some of the best pub food on the island. We highly recommend ordering up a portion of Bourbon Wings for just $14 EC ($5.20 USD) to go with an ice-cold Carib or Stag beer. At $5 EC ($1.85 USD) any time of the day, beers here are definitely cheap, but go during happy hour from 5-6 p.m. and you can have them for just $4 EC ($1.50 USD).

The bar also faces west so you can watch the sun disappear right into the Caribbean Sea, painting the surface of the water and the sky into an impossible array of reds and pinks.

Roger's Bar

This wins our number 1 spot on Grenada simply because of how funky this place is. Located on a tiny offshore islet, Roger's Bar is of course set on a beautiful white sand beach and there are some swinging chairs, hammocks and picnic tables to sit on outside. The bar is literally just a small shack with a bunch of coolers to keep your beer cold. Roger is a typical Caribbean man and he is extremely relaxed. The bar doesn't usually open until 5:00 on weekdays (all day on weekends), but you'll find people chilling here pretty much 24/7. The water is calm and kid-friendly and the entire place just has a very funky Caribbean vibe.

To get here, you'll need to take either a small taxi boat from Whisper Cove, or brave a very bumpy road before walking over a closed bridge. Once you're over the bridge and on the island, just follow the sound of music and happy drinkers!

Heading To Grenada? The island of Grenada has a lot more to offer than just beach bars. There are awesome hikes, villages, scuba dive sites and jungles as well. If you're planning a trip to Grenada, check out our Guide To Traveling in Grenada.
