Get Up and Get Moving!
Don’t let the hustle-and-bustle of working at home be a curse—create a healthy work environment.

Working from home is undoubtedly my favorite perk of being a home-based travel agent, but at the same time it can also be the biggest curse. If you are like me, you work 16- to 18-hour days, sometimes letting the hustle-and-bustle of business take over your life so you forget about almost everything else, including your health.
Health and wellness is front and center in the news and on social media—and so it should be, as it’s an important part of our everyday lives. How many of you have been so caught up in what you are working on that you’ve missed a meal or two?
Have you ever been awakened by clients in the early mornings looking for help in rescheduling missed flights—and the next thing you realize is that it is almost lunch time and you’ve been sitting at your desk or on your bed (yes, I work on my bed a lot) for the past four hours and haven’t moved?
This is a weekly and, more often than not, daily occurrence in my life. It doesn’t matter that my daily schedule is to arrive at the gym by six, have breakfast right after, mid-morning snack at 10 and lunch at noon, because travel waits for nothing, and clients take precedence over going to the gym and yes, sometimes even eating.
One issue solved turns into an important email that needs to be addressed, a phone call that was scheduled a week prior needs to be made—and soon the gym, breakfast and snack have fallen to the wayside.
I love what I do, but I don’t want it to cripple me. I want a healthy heart, a healthy lifestyle—so I bought a tread-desk. Yes, that’s right, a treadmill that doubles as a desk.
Haven’t heard of them? Hit up Google and see what this craze is about. My tread-desk is the best thing I have ever purchased. I walk while I work, and I work a lot, so I walk a lot, usually 10 miles-plus a day.
Instead of sitting all day, I stay active by working on my tread-desk. Don’t let working from home be a curse. Maximize the blessing that it is.
Create a healthy work environment at home. Get up, get moving and get healthy!
