The capital of West Virginia, Charleston provides a great combination of rustic outdoors as well as sophistication. Located just miles from downtown, Kanawha State Forest is a great spot for camping, hiking, mountain biking and skiing. Cato Park has an executive par 3 golf course, an Olympic size swimming pool and picnic areas. Charleston's other parks offer activities such as fishing, boating, hunting and other recreational activities.

Kids will enjoy the Southridge Grand Prix Family Fun Center where they can race karts, play laser tag and play in the arcade. Those looking for a glimpse into Charleston's past will love the period architecture in downtown Charleston, such as the Scott Building, Victorian Block and the Craik-Patton House.

Charleston also has a lot of the luxuries of a busy city. Shopping fanatics have to check out Charleston Town Center, one of America's biggest malls and for those with more eclectic taste, Renaissance Village has a number of specialty boutiques and shops. If you're looking for a night out or a nice dinner, check out Capitol Street and Hale Street in downtown Charleston. Looking to take in a show or some theater? The Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences has a theater, museum, planetarium, cinema and performance hall.
