Serene Mornings

1/7
Breakfast at the Four Seasons Bali is a lavish affair in the hillside Taman Wantilan, where multiple action stations serve up Western, Indian, Asian, and Balinese favorites. Try an iced coffee with paper-thin dosa pancakes (which originated in tamil nadu and can be served with a wide range of fillings), or choose from the wide selection of local fruit (95 percent of the fruit, vegetables and seafood served at the resort are locally-sourced).

Spectacular Views

2/7
The resort’s hillside location affords guest villas commanding views over Jimbaran Bay from within guest rooms or from oceanview infinity pools. The resort is spread widely over the hillside, so guests are transported between their villas and the property’s public spaces by golf carts.

Plenty of Dining Options

3/7
The resort has a number of dining options throughout the day and at dinnertime. Enjoy seafood barbecue—a local neighborhood specialty, at oceanfront Sundara. Or perhaps try light lunch fare poolside at Alu, or take in the full Balinese dining experience at Jala, which also focuses its menu on the bounty of the surrounding ocean and traditional Balinese cooking techniques and spices.

An Enriching Environment

4/7
Guests can also take opportunities to learn more about Balinese culture in a series of enrichment classes. At Telu, guests can learn about Arak, a Balinese rice wine, and learn to fashion a craft cocktail using it as a base. Guests can also learn about Balinese culture and art forms, from calligraphy to painting, or try meditation or yoga at an oceanfront pavilion.

Sumptuous Baths

5/7
Guest bathrooms in Villas are expansive, with separate sinks, large soaking bath tubs, and outdoor showers (there are also indoor showers for those who wish not to shower outside). The bath tubs were in fact so beloved among repeat guests that they were deliberately disincluded from the resort’s recent guest room refresh so guests could continue to return and enjoy the same tubs.

Luscious Grounds

6/7
Guests are by no means required to take golf carts to and from various resort locations (my own villa was just steps away from the oceanfront yoga pavilion). The resort is, however expansive, and a good portion of the paths are up steep, sloping hills, so a golf cart ride is never more than a few moments away via a quick phone call to the resort staff.

Four Seasons Bali

7/7
Whether arriving for a quick stay or an extended sojourn, the stresses of travel and the everyday grind quickly melt away in this special place, where the tranquil calm of a sunrise enjoyed by a villa infinity pool or the pondering of the sound of the crashing surf during a mindfulness exercise simply erases one’s tensions. The Four Seasons Resort Bali is an ideal escape for the road-weariness of the modern traveler.

The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay is situated just above Bali’s Jimbaran Bay just outside of Denpasar, convenient to the airport. The resort’s 147 thatched roof villas built in traditional Balinese style cascade down a hillside toward the bay; each are a cluster of buildings with separate sleeping, bathing, and relaxation areas, with infinity pools.
