There are some nuisances we just accept about travel, despite their seemingly simple solutions. Thankfully, Oslo Airport is working on solving one of the most frustrating aspects of International travel.

The aptly named Connecting Norway is a pilot project we hope spreads throughout the industry.

At the moment, it allows travelers flying via SAS, Norwegian or Widerøe to bypass the usual means of International transfer, which mandates passengers leave the secured area between gates only to go through security after they have re-checked their baggage.

With Connecting Norway, travelers simply follow signs to transfer to their connecting flights.

That is where they are met with an electronic board that signals when your flight has been prepared and your baggage has been virtually checked and literally transferred to your next leg.

This quick video highlights the technology:

Oslo Airport hopes the project continues to include more airlines. We are a bit more hopeful, dreaming of the day that this encompasses the entire complement of International airports.

Oslo, however, is keen on innovating all over the place.

Airport Business reported in April that the airport was fiddling with its security protocol to squire travelers through the area more efficiently.

Essentially, the new security lanes will offer more room to place, organize and fiddle with luggage. With more space, presumably, travelers can get through the area quicker and with minimal stress.

We remain optimistic the rest of the world takes note.
