These are the air travel headlines circling the internet today.

American Upgrades Long-Haul Flights
American Airlines has announced that it will upgrade the planes used to fly its Chicago O'Hare-Manchester, England route. The carrier will change from from using a Boeing 767-300 to a more modern 787 Dreamliner. The switch will take place in early June.

AirBaltic's Steady Growth Continues
AirBaltic, a carrier that serves Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, is adding new planes as its steady growth continues. The carrier, which saw more than 11 million passengers last year, is adding at least 13 Bombardier CS300s to its fleet.

American Airlines Could Seek New Haneda Slots
When new slots open up to international airlines at Tokyo Haneda Airport later this year, American Airlines could seek to fill some of them with flights from the United States. U.S. airlines will be switching to daytime slots from overnight slots later this year, and more opportunities could open up soon thereafter. American currently has five daily round trip flights to Japan, including one between LAX and Haneda.

Philippine Airlines Chasing Five-Star Rating
Philippine Airlines CEO Jaime Bautista is adamant that his airline can achieve a five-star rating from Skytrax by 2020. The carrier currently has a three-star rating, but will soon launch new long-haul flights to Europe and the U.S. using newly ordered Airbus A350-900s.

JUST THE LINKS

An all-female Royal Brunei Airlines crew recently operated a flight between Brunei and Saudi Arabia, a country that has yet to give women the right to drive cars. The flight was not made to commemorate International Women's Day, but Brunei's National Day. The airline is actively recruiting females for all its departments.

Southwest Airlines is warning about fake Facebook pages. The pages are meant to look like they are official, but they are not. The airline is telling people not to enter any personal information on these pages.

Hawaiian Airlines is celebrating its third year of service to New Zealand. The three-times-per-week service is used by some fliers as a way to get to the U.S. Mainland because Hawaiian has a number of connections from the islands to places like Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

The U.S. House of Representatives has voted to extend FAA authorization until mid-July. However, the Senate now has a competing bill that would reauthorize the aviation body until late 2017. This bill does not contain any plans to privatize air traffic control.
