Delta Air Lines and Korean Air have announced the expansion of their codeshare program following government approval.
The new codeshare flights will include a connection between Seattle and Seoul-Incheon, which brings the total number of Delta and Korean Air journeys to 16 peak-day codeshare flights between the United States and Seoul.
For travelers taking advantage of the Seattle to Seoul-Incheon route, Korean Air offers round-trip connections from Incheon Airport to 18 major cities in Asia, including Singapore, Osaka, Nagoya and Bangkok.
“Delta and Korean Air are working closely to bring customers the full benefits of our joint venture,” Delta president Steve Sear said in a statement. “Expanding our codeshares to include the Seattle hub is the next step to building our joint position as the best U.S.-Asia partnership. Our combined network and schedules give customers significantly enhanced choices and more seamless service.”
The extension of the partnership between Delta and Korean Air comes months after the two carriers co-located in the new Terminal 2 at Seoul's Incheon International Airport, which helped reduce connection times for travelers.
With the addition of the new services, Delta will operate 174 peak-day departures from Seattle to 54 destinations in July 2018, an increase of 96 daily departures over summer 2014 with five daily flights to Asia.
