LOT Polish Airlines inaugurates new 787 Dreamliner daily nonstop service from Chicago to Warsaw on June 5. The flight will be the first international Dreamliner flight from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. LOT's inbound Dreamliner flight from Warsaw will touch down at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport at 3:20 p.m. and will be welcomed with a traditional water salute. The first LOT Dreamliner trip from Chicago will depart at 5:25 p.m., and arrive the next day in Warsaw at 9:55 a.m. The flights were previously operated with B767s.
LOT's first try at inaugurating Dreamliner service from O'Hare on Jan. 16, 2013 was aborted only a few hours before departure after the Federal Aviation Administration temporarily grounded the aircraft due to safety issues with its lithium-ion batteries. LOT is now the first European carrier to operate the Dreamliner with three of the eight already delivered to the airline. LOT's Dreamliner inaugural flight from Chicago to Warsaw will be followed by Toronto to Warsaw on June 7. LOT began Dreamliner flights from New York's JFK to Warsaw on June 1. The LOT Dreamliner has 18 seats in Elite Club (business class), 21 in Premium Club (premium economy) plus 213 seats in economy class.
"Chicago will receive daily LOT Dreamliner service and on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and there is a second Dreamliner flight scheduled from Chicago to Warsaw later in the evening," said Tomasz Dakowski, LOT Polish Airlines Director of Sales. "We offer the two flights on some days in the summer because Chicago has historically been our number one US destination. The support of the largest Polish population outside of Poland in this region has especially contributed in making our flights a success."
The new Dreamliner flights have new aircraft interiors, inflight menus and beverage selections, on-board equipment, toys for children and other amenities. The flights are staffed with specially trained Elite Fleet cabin crews, and offer two new classes of service-Elite Club and Premium Club.
