Maybe You Shouldn't Bite Your Flight Attendants

A woman was arrested Monday on an international flight after she allegedly punched a fellow passenger and bit three flight attendants during a drunken rampage.
According to the New York Post, 40-year-old Ires Alves Pereira was reportedly intoxicated on a flight from Brazil to New York City when she punched the person sitting next to her, causing attendants to attempt to calm her down.
As the crew members worked to calm Pereira down, she began kicking, hitting and biting the attendants as they attempted to restrain her. During the chaos, prosecutors claim Pereira also managed to break another passenger’s glasses.
Eventually, a group of flight attendants and other passengers subdued Pereira and strapped her to a seat for the rest of the flight.
Pereira, who has both American and Brazilian citizenship, appeared in court Wednesday and was charged with a litany of crimes, including assault. She was released on $100,000 bond.
Passengers misbehaving during flights have become all-too-common occurrences in recent years.
Earlier this month, a flight preparing to take off from Australia was forced to turn around and return to the terminal after one of the passengers refused to put his tablet on airplane mode.

In another case of a drunken passenger getting out of control, a United Airlines flight traveling from Beijing to Washington, D.C. earlier this month was forced to turn back after an inebriated man initiated an altercation with a fellow passenger and a crew member.
