Russian Company Tracks Sochi Landings with Graphic
Airlines & Airports Ryan Rudnansky February 24, 2014

Russian metasearch service Aviasales has information on plane landings at Adler Airport during the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
And it has a cool graphic for us all, too.
According to Aviasales, there has been a 50 percent increase in arrivals to Adler Airport since the Sochi Games began. To break it down even further, 67 percent of aircraft have come from Moscow, 8 percent have come from St. Petersburg, 7 percent have come from Krasnodar, 5 percent have come from Frankfurt and 13 percent have come from other airports.
A total of 183,764 visitors have arrived by air, according to the report. That required 725 single-aisle airliners, 340 dual-aisle airliners and 64 regional airliners.
Oh, but there’s more.
There are also 511 hotels reportedly waiting for fans. The hotels must accommodate for 368, 011 Sochi residents and up to 600,000 visitors. Nine 5-star hotels, 33 4-star hotels, 102 3-three star hotels, 29 2-star hotels and 337 unrated hotels will welcome guests through their doors.
The most passengers arrived from Feb. 10-16 (54,775), but a steady stream is still expected over the next four six-day periods (each period is projected to attract more than 51,000 passengers).
And, just to throw more numbers at you, there are also 88 participating countries and 2,800 participating athletes in the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
It’s safe to say using a graphic was the right choice (although, it would be a bit frightening if all visitors were wearing red…or all Sochi residents were wearing Speedos).
