‘Secret Passageway’ Connects Terminals at SFO
Airlines & Airports Rich Thomaselli November 25, 2014

Anybody who flies out of San Francisco International (SFO) knows that Terminal 2 is the happenin’ place to be.
Opened earlier this year, Terminal 2 has it all – fabulous restaurants, wine bars, a museum, even a yoga room. Getting stranded there isn’t exactly the worst thing in the world.
But when you look down at your ticket and see that your flight is going out of Terminal 1, well, the difference is stark. Terminal 1 is as mundane as Terminal 2 is spectacular.
But now all that has changed.
SFO officials opened a "secret passageway" at the airport earlier this month that connects Terminal 1 with Terminal 2. The "secret" thing is a misnomer – directions are clearly visible through the terminal’s signage – and it takes all of 10 minutes to go from blah to wow!
The best part is, the connector between the two terminals is AFTER security, so there’s no need to go back through the nightmare of getting scanned all over again.
And for your travelers whose airlines are still Terminal 1? Patience, friends. In 10 years or so, that one will look like Terminal 2.
