Now this is one stopover you probably won’t mind.
For a limited time, Icelandair will be offering passengers the ability to take an “Incredible” Icelandair Stopover, including a stay in a recently refurbished lighthouse on the central south coast of Iceland.
“We wanted to celebrate our Icelandair Stopover by giving passengers an otherwise unobtainable opportunity in our beautiful home of Iceland,” Birkir Holm Gudnason, CEO at Icelandair, said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming guests as they enjoy luxurious accommodation as surreal and unique as Iceland itself. We chose the Dyrholaey lighthouse as our incredible venue for its spectacular setting that represents many of Iceland’s unique characteristics.”
Dyrholaey lighthouse, more than a century old, has been converted into a private luxury hotel. Situated in the southernmost point of the island, in the beautiful area of Vik, it offers a peaceful setting with unsurpassed privacy and breathtaking views, including the endless Icelandic coastline.
The lighthouse will be operated by Icelandair Hotel Vik and includes a personal meet and greet on arrival with a privately prepared breakfast in the morning. Hotel Vik is an elegant, contemporary hotel, designed to mirror the nature and beaches of Iceland, the design of which is also reflected at Dyrholaey.
Icelandair, in cooperation with Icelandair Hotels, have created a package to highlight the increasingly popular Icelandair Stopover. Guests will be given the choice of adding a selection of activities, including a private guide, a helicopter tour, a chance to explore Gljufrabui, Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, a hike up Solheimajokull glacier, horseback riding along the beautiful black sand beach at Reynisfjara, or a relaxing trip to Fontana Spa.
This particular Icelandair Stopover will be available for groups up to five, with two double bedrooms and one small bedroom with a single bed from Sept. 1 to Nov. 1. Packages also include one night at Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina and one night at the lighthouse with breakfast, all of the activities, and airport transfers in a luxury vehicle.
