Volaris Offers to Re-Unite Separated Migrant Families

While several domestic airlines have taken a public stance against U.S. policies separating children from parents who have illegally crossed into the United States, at least one airline is offering to reunite those families, free of charge.
In a press statement, Mexican carrier Volaris said, “It hurts us to see these children without their parents and it is our vocation to reunite them.”
An ultra-low-cost carrier based in Mexico City, Volaris announced it is willing to work jointly with authorities in the United States, Mexico and the Central American countries where it operates, to re-connect separated children with their parents. The airline is offering to fly the children, free of charge, on its existing routes.
“Since its founding, Volaris’ mission has been to unite families,” said the airline. “Families belong together, and we affirm our commitment to help them stay together so they can build their futures.”
Previously, several airlines, including American and United, publicly stated that the policy of separating children from their families are not in keeping with their “core values.”
After President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order that will stop the separation of children from their families, Delta released a statement condemning the separations but also applauding the administration for “resolving the issue.”
Volaris offers low-cost flights from 27 cities in the United States to destinations in Mexico and Central America. Since the airline began flying in March 2006, it has grown from five routes to 160. The airline recently announced it will be adding 14 new routes throughout Mexico.
