You know the drill. A couple of flight attendants stand in the aisle of an airplane and tediously go over all the safety rules of the plane. Or, a flashy, mostly humorous, somewhat extravagant video is shown with some sort of theme – celebrities, the ‘80s, paying homage to a particular movie, whatever – in lieu of the live announcement.
Well, Australian carrier Qantas is stepping outside the box – or, at least, the cabin – with its new safety video that began airing on flights on Monday.

Instead of using celebrities or an elaborate, contrived theme, however, Qantas uses the natural beauty of Australia as its star of the video.
According to Traveller.com.au, the five-minute video includes an oxygen mask demonstration at the Museum of Old and New Art in Hobart, a life-jacket demonstration at Bondi Icebergs and an emergency slide demonstration at Josephine Falls in Queensland, among numerous other sites.

One thing is for sure – the imagery is stunning.
