Azamara Club Cruises understands very well that interest in Cuba remains higher than ever before, and it’s giving travel enthusiasts exactly what they need by adding four additional trips to the island nation in 2018.
Larry Pimentel, President & CEO of Azamara Club Cruises, explained via press release: “Interest in traveling to Cuba from both new and loyal guests is undeniable. Destination Immersion is the heartbeat of our brand, so naturally, we wanted to deliver authentic experiences in Cuba—from new ports to unique land discovery offerings—that truly bring the country’s rich history, culture and people to life.”
Azamara is doing just that by offering more opportunities for travelers to experience Cuba in a unique way, aboard a cruise ship that not only promises a night in Havana but stops at other dazzling destinations.
According to the release, the cruise line is adding two new Cuban ports of call, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba, to its already awesome list of possibilities. The brand now boasts six impressive itineraries, starting with its Havana Discovery Voyage, which takes off on November 20, 2017, for ten nights of splendor.
For those who might want to dabble in the culture, there is the Havana Getaway (Nov. 27, 2017) that takes guests on a four-night excursion aboard the Azamara Quest.
You can also kick off 2018 with four new possibilities that begin in earnest in January: The Panama Canal & Costa Rica Voyage which hits Havana on its way south (11-night cruise; Leaves Jan. 4); the Cuba Intensive Voyage adds Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba to the mix (10-night cruise; Leaves March 9 and March 28); Cuba & Grand Cayman Voyage, which hits both Havana and Santiago de Cuba (7-night cruise, Leaves March 19).
Both Cuba Intensive Voyages are just that, intense. They allow patrons to get out and really immerse themselves in the culture by way of two overnight stays in Havana.
Azamara paints quite the vivid picture: “Multiple overnights also allow guests the opportunity to experience the destination at night when the cobblestone streets are filled with music from salsa clubs, the scent of hand-rolled Cuban cigars, and delicious local cuisine.”
As TravelPulse’s Jason Leppert opined last month, the cruise industry isn’t about to follow the airline’s lead when it comes to Cuba.
Rather than ease on the brakes, various cruise lines, including Azamara and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, are going full steam ahead into what remains uncharted territory for so many travelers.
Pimentel also spoke at the time about Cuba and what it meant to unveil its beauty to consumers: “Azamara takes pride in bringing guests to new and remarkable destinations and we’re especially proud to be the first RCCL brand to bring our guests to Cuba, a magical country with such inner beauty. We’ve put together memorable land experiences for our guests to connect with the local people on this first visit to the island nation, a country rich in history, culture, education and the arts.”
